Bad Company 2 Impressions (and one big flaw)

Its been a week since I managed to get bad company 2 working. I hit a wall today and although its extremely fun, its not as enjoyable as past Battlefield games.

Before I start on some of the flaws, I want to mention that its a good game. It can be very exciting with plenty of moments that you will probably have to tell someone about. If your on a streak and your class points start to rack up, or at the end of a round you have 8 pins for various achievements, its very rewarding. After a while playing though I find myself grinding to the next weapon or gadget, kinda bored till you have one of those great moments.

The achievement screen

It can get boring because although your playing an online fps, you have no interaction with the other players. The maps are to small to really coordinate, and its to fast paced to have a conversation with anyone. Not that you would want to, but your team has no personality unless someone in your squad sticks by your side every map. This is one major flaw, because unless you join a server with a group already on vent or teamspeak, you will probably hit this wall as well at some point. It made me miss Battlefield 2 before “the patch” ruined that game. I miss the bigger maps, being able to run somewhere very secluded with a group and take over a base behind the lines. Bad Company 2 is great for a quick fun fps round, but its still pretty shallow.

Hopefully Battlefield 3 will cater for the more grandiose fps gamer. Bad Company 2 is a good alternative to Modern Warfare 2, so it makes sense to make Battlefield 3 into a much bigger game with more emphasis on coordination and teamwork.
